Project Description

The 2022 Vantage Fire resulted in an extensive loss of sagebrush sagebrush
The western United States’ sagebrush country encompasses over 175 million acres of public and private lands. The sagebrush landscape provides many benefits to our rural economies and communities, and it serves as crucial habitat for a diversity of wildlife, including the iconic greater sage-grouse and over 350 other species.

plant communities in and around L.T. Murray State Wildlife Area Complex. This project will continue invasive plant treatments and restoration site prep since the fire. Invasive annual grass dominant systems are more susceptible to wildfire. Chemically treating continuous fuel beds may in addition to reseeding and planting may reduce the spread of catastrophic fires on the landscape.
