Visit Us

Coldwater River NWR is a waterfowl sanctuary and is closed to visitation except for an observation tower located at the north end of the refuge.  The tower provides an elevated view of the moist soil units and is a great place for birdwatchers to see migrating shorebirds in the spring and fall, as well as wintering waterfowl.

To visit the tower, turn from Highway 332 in Crowder, MS on to Quitman Avenue.  The refuge tower will be 4 1/2 miles down the road on our right.

GPS coordinates to the tower:  34.106381, -136148

Hours: The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset. During hunting season, waterfowl hunters may enter the refuge two hours before sunrise and must end their hunt by 12 noon.

Please note:  it is not unusual for portions of the gravel county road to be closed due to flooding during the winter and spring.
