Pleomele forbesii, a member of the Asparagaceae (asparagus) family, is a tree 3 to 7 m (9.8 to 23 ft) tall, usually few-branched. Leaves are spirally clustered toward the ends of branches and are somewhat tough but flexible, 24 to 37 cm (9 to 14.6 in) long, 0.5 to 1.2 cm (0.2 to 0.5 in) wide, gradually tapering from near middle. Panicles (branched inflorescences with hanging flowers on the second branches) are narrow, slightly waxy, about 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 in) long, the lower lateral branches about 3 to 8 cm (1.2 to 3 in) long, stalks 7 to 12 cm (2.8 to 5 in) long, and abruptly recurved. Flower petals are greenish-yellow and 5.2 to 6 cm (2 to 2.3 in) long. Berries are red, about 10 to 11 mm (0.4 to 0.43 in) long containing 1 to 3 seeds.
