2024-2025 Station-Specific Hunting and Sport Fishing Proposed Rule

Illinois

• Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge: Would close hunting on 111 of the over 44,000 huntable acres for other visitor uses, including camping. 

Kentucky

• Green River National Wildlife Refuge: Open for the first time to waterfowl hunting and archery big game hunting on 793 acres.

Louisiana

• Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing waterfowl hunting and archery deer hunting, with incidental take of feral hog, on 835 acres.

Nebraska

• Valentine National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing turkey hunting on 70,549 acres. The turkey hunting at this refuge is non-lead by existing regulations.

North Dakota

• Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge: Open elk hunting on 14,145 acres, and require non-lead ammunition for elk hunting.
• J. Clark Salyer National Wildlife Refuge: Open elk hunting on 58,939 acres, and require non-lead ammunition for elk hunting.
• Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge: Open elk hunting on 27,331 acres, and require non-lead ammunition for elk hunting.
• Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge: Open elk hunting on 32,026 acres, and require non-lead ammunition for elk hunting.

South Carolina

• Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing youth waterfowl hunting on 43 acres.

Texas

• Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge: Open coot and merganser hunting on 1,200 acres and expand archery deer hunting, with incidental take of feral hogs, on 2,510 acres.

Washington

• Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing non-lead turkey hunting on 330 acres. The turkey hunting at this refuge is non-lead by existing regulations.

West Virginia

• Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing migratory bird, upland game, and big game hunting on 2,412 acres, and require non-lead ammunition for all hunting on the new acres.

Wisconsin

• Horicon National Wildlife Refuge: Expand existing fishing to new portions of the refuge. The
