Welcome to the 2024 Umatilla Youth Waterfowl Hunting Lottery

Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge is located near Irrigon, Oregon.

The Youth Hunt Day this year is Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Youths may apply for either the McNary or the Umatilla Youth Hunt, not both. Anyone entering both lotteries will have both entries rejected.

Youths must be 10- to 17-years-old to participate in this hunt, must have a hunter safety card, and must be accompanied by an adult companion at least 18-years-old (two companions per youth hunter will be allowed). Adults are not allowed to hunt. Because the purpose of the Youth Hunt Day is to provide young hunters the opportunity to receive guidance from experienced hunters, the maximum number of people per blind is four in one of these combinations: one youth, one adult; two youths, one adult; three youths, one adult; or two youths, two adults. Lottery entry and blind fees are waived for the Youth Hunt Day. Entries for the Youth Hunt Day will be accepted from now through 3:30 p.m., September 13, 2024.

The Hunter Check Station is located on Paterson Ferry Road 1.8 miles from I-84 and 1.6 miles before the river. The station will be staffed from 1-1/2 hours before legal shooting time until 7:30 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on scheduled hunting days. Please arrive when the station opens to select your blind. Hunters arriving late will have to hunt standby, or enter the on-site lottery.

When filling in the lottery form, please do so as if you were doing so for mailing purposes. Correctly capitalize addresses, etc. For example: John Smith, 123 Main Street, Apt. 3, Anytown, Washington 99323, (509) 123-4567. Failure to do so could jeopardize all or part of your entry.
