GS 6/7/8/9 Future Fire Management Officers and Leaders

Summary and Objectives:

The Fire Management Academy's goal is to provide a solid educational foundation to future FWS fire managers on the complex dynamics of managing of a fire program. This involves preparing future fire managers to understand and follow the FWS fire policies as well as the duties and leadership traits of a Fire Management Officer. The course facilitates peer learning, professional networking, and mentorship through which management and leadership practices are shared and enhanced.

Participants will understand the legal mandates and policies that directly affect the operation of the Fire Management Program and how they impact day-to-day and long-term operations. Participants will develop a communication network among peers and other professionals to foster personal and professional growth and to encourage continual learning.
